Check-up & cleaning

The two main causes of tooth loss are decay and gum disease. The better you prevent or deal with these two problems, the better chance you will have of keeping your teeth for life. When the dental team and patient work together, this can help to prevent the need for treatment – especially with fillings and extractions.

Our dental team may recommend a course of treatment to get your mouth into a good condition, and then work out a ‘maintenance plan’ to help you keep it that way. Prevention is always better than cure!

There are many forms of preventative dentistry, such as daily brushing and dental check-ups. To maintain optimal oral health, it is recommended to visit the dentist at regular intervals (twice annually). These practices are designed to ensure that teeth are clean, and strong. Children should be taught proper oral hygiene at an early age.

A standard dental check-up will generally include an oral exam of your teeth, gums and mouth to check their health and diagnose any potential problem areas. A scaling and polish is normally added to a standard check-up, after all, who doesn’t love that dentist clean feel! Contact us to set up a consultation for you or your child.
